The Indian director and producer Ismail Noor Md. Abdul Rehman was born on 25 th Dec, 1936 in Bombay to parents Noor and Hazra Md. Rehman. Along with James Ivory he started a production company called Merchant Ivory Productions which won the Guinness Book of World Record. He directed some short films like Mahatma and the Mad Boy. His directorial full length film was In Custody in 1993 which won the national award. He wrote several cook books Indian Cuisine, Florence etc. and wrote film making books like My Passage from India etc. He won Padma Bhusan in 2002. He died on 28 th May, 2005.
